ABSTRACT
With the increase in maritime trade, the shipbuilding industry, which provides foreign currency inflow to countries, increases employment and necessitates technology, comes to the fore for countries. The shipyard sector is developing and working more actively everyday, which brings with it an increase in the number of people in employment. More personnel work in shipyards, therefore the rate of human error increases and OHS comes to the fore and becomes mandatory. In this context, the aim of the study is to evaluate OHS performance in shipyard enterprises and to rank the OHS performance of the shipyards operating in Yalova Shipyards Region. For this purpose, Entropy and TOPSIS methods were used as hybrid in the study. (P1) Employees' use of personal protective equipment, (P2) Employees' participation in risk-reducing work practices (employee safety compliance), (P3) Employees' communication of health and safety information (safety communication), (P4) Employees' fulfillment of their rights and responsibilities (reporting of accidents/incidents), (K5) Quality of OHS trainings received by the employees, (K6) Low number of occupational accidents, (K7) Low material damage, (K8) High work motivation of the employees, (K9) Low number of absenteeism / lost working days, (K10) Low number of near misses were determined as criteria in the rating scale. The numerical data for these criteria were obtained by conducting a rating questionnaire to five occupational safety experts working in different shipyards and the criteria weights were calculatedusing the Entropy method. According to the calculated criteria weights, OHS performance of five shipyards was evaluated by TOPSIS method. According to the results obtained, it was observed that OHS measures were implemented better in shipyards with high performance. As a result of the study, (P6) the criterion of fewer number of occupational accidents was determined as the most important criterion, while (P7) the criterion of less material damage was determined as the least important criterion.
