ABSTRACT

The loss occuring in the elbows during the pipe flow are calculated using the loss coefficient. However, these coefficient is constant and the features of the flow are not considered. In fact, the loss occuring in the elbow is the function of Reynolds number. Therefore, parameter like velocity of the flow and diameter of the pipe affects the loss coefficient directly. In this study, the numerical calculations was done for diffirent pipe size and was compared with coefficients in the literature. As a result of numerical analysis, it has been proven that loss coefficient in the elbows depends on the Reynolds number.
