ABSTRACT

In this study, the concept of comfort and thermal comfort were described and the parameters which influence and determine comfort sensation have been defined. Subsequently, vibration and thermal comfort standards were introduced. For arising comfort sense based on these standards, it was illustrated in which intervals environmental conditions should vary in passenger and cargo ships, high speed / light crafts and yachts. Further, it was emphasized that present standards regarding comfort parameters in ships are unsatisfactory and for developing/ improving these standards certain proposals were offered.
